This upgrade will extend the dedicated cycle lane, improve road conditions, enhance drainage and provide new safety features along a key local route in Rosemount.

For the community, this means:

  • Safer cycling and driving conditions with improved shoulders and upgraded surfacing
  • Better connectivity between Paynters Creek Road and Sugar View Lane
  • Reduced long-term maintenance issues thanks to upgraded drainage and utility works
  • A future-ready road designed to meet the growing needs of our region.

We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation while these important improvements are delivered.

This project is supported through the South-East Queensland Community Stimulus Program (SEQCSP).

Project Scope

The project involves widening the road and extending the dedicated cycle lane along Petrie Creek Road between Paynters Creek Road and Sugar View Lane.

Works will be carried out in four stages, progressing eastward from the Bruce Highway overpass.

Stage 1 will involve road, drainage and utility works on Petrie Creek Road for approximately 200 metres from the Bruce Highway overpass and into Paynters Creek Road for approximately 30 metres.

Stage 2 will involve road, drainage and utility works on Petrie Creek Road from stage 1 works for approximately 450m to the eastern Service Road intersection.

Stage 3 will involve road, drainage and utility works on Petrie Creek Road from Stage 2 works through to Sugar View Lane approximately 600 metres

Stage 4 will involve guardrail, road surfacing, signage and line marking for the full length of the project, Bruce highway over pass to Sugar View Lane.

Stage 1 will be completed under lane closures, while Stages 2 and 3 will require a full road closure, with access limited to immediate residents within each stage.

This approach is necessary to reduce construction time and complete the works as efficiently as possible. Please read the latest construction information below to stay informed.

Timeline

Early works were completed in October 2025 with construction starting from 12 January 2026.

  • Stage 1: mid-February to April 2026
  • Stage 2: April to July 2026
