Request for written advice
You can request written advice for specific information about your property.
You can request written advice for specific information about your property. We can provide you with written advice which includes advice on compliance with the planning scheme before you propose a particular development. This can include existing use rights, liquor licensing, or interpretation of the planning scheme.
Requests for written advice is inclusive of requests for a Town Planning Appraisal.
How to book
You can request written advice online through MyCouncil (you will need to register to use this service). You need to complete details and pay any applicable fee online.
You can also request written advice by emailing us the Written advice request form.

Inclusions
Written advice includes:
- levels of assessment for a particular proposal
- details on compliance with the planning scheme provisions
- details on existing development approvals and
- any applicable property notes for a property.
Council will provide written advice within ten business days of lodgement of the request.
Exclusions
Written advice does not include opinion or certainty around a development outcome or decision. It does not include information usually obtained from a standard or full planning and development certificate.
Any advice provided does not constitute approval.
What we need from you:
You must provide the property address.
You can provide proposal plans (site plan, technical reports, floor plans, elevations, and sections).
You must include any relevant development or building approvals if it relates to the advice sought.
