Sunshine Coast priorities for Queensland and Australian Government investment

Sunshine Coast Council has a bold vision of being Australia’s most sustainable region. Our goal is to enable a community that is connected, liveable and thriving. To achieve this we will work with our community, industry and both levels of Government.
The Sunshine Coast is home to 365,000 people and is expected to grow by another 153,000 by 2041. To help manage this growth, our region requires support from the Queensland and Australian Governments to deliver critical, region-shaping infrastructure and services to our community.

How you can help advocate for our regional priorities
Council knows when we work alongside our community, we can achieve more together.
There are many ways individuals and community groups can advocate for our region:
- Write to or ask to meet your local Member of Parliament or political candidate
- Start a community group to advocate for the change you want to see
- Invite your local Member of Parliament or political candidate to a community meeting or event
- Start or fill out a petition and send to your local Member of Parliament or relevant government minister
- Build partnerships - with Council and others - to work towards a common goal
- Email your local councillors to let them know of your support for particular projects
- Attend a Council Meeting, either in-person or virtually
- Follow Council online and show your support on advocacy posts - share them to your network and tag your local member
