Controlling invasive plants is challenging. They typically grow faster than native species and compete for space, nutrients, water and sunlight. They easily invade disturbed habitats and often produce large numbers of seeds—helping them to spread quickly.

Effective, long-term control of invasive plants is best achieved by combining several species-specific control methods. The effective management of invasive plants requires commitment from all stakeholders to deal with cross boundary issues.

Subpages

Council is working in collaboration with the state government and other local governments, community groups and land holders to protect against invasive plants.
