National Reconciliation Week - 27 May to 3 June 2026, is a time for everyone to learn, connect and take action toward reconciliation together. Explore the events and activities happening across Sunshine Coast that recognise and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, histories and cultures. The 2026 theme, All In, reminds us that reconciliation needs all of us to step up and be part of the journey.

National Sorry Day

Join us on National Sorry Day for a powerful gathering focused on truth-telling and reflection on the lived experiences and lasting impacts of the Stolen Generations. The event features Uncle Tais Muchan sharing his family’s story, Professor David Hollinsworth providing historical context, and Karen Malcolm exploring intergenerational trauma through science and epigenetics.
Aunty Betty Memorial Walk

All are welcome to the annual Aunty Betty Memorial Reconciliation Walk to celebrate the life and work of Patron Aunty Betty McMahon. The walk commences with a Welcome to Country ceremony before Traditional Custodians lead a short walk on-Country.
The Dreaming Collective Reconciliation Breakfast 2026

Join The Dreaming Collective for the National Reconciliation Week Breakfast 2026, bringing together community, business and government leaders to reflect and commit under this year’s theme, All In, which calls on all Australians to take shared responsibility for meaningful reconciliation. The morning will feature a Welcome to Country by Uncle Lyndon Davis, live music by Al Bartholomew, a keynote address from Natalie Williams, and breakfast with networking opportunities.
Sunshine Coast Lightning First Nations Round

Join us on Kabi Kabi Country as Sunshine Coast Lightning battles the GIANTS in the First Nations Round. Fans can expect a celebration of Indigenous culture and heritage, with local First Nations performances throughout. Get in early and enjoy Lightning’s fan zone, the Strike Zone, and enjoy food trucks, drinks and family-friendly activities.
Manngoor Dja Youth Day

Manngoor Dja Youth Day 2026 is back and set to be bigger, stronger and deadlier than ever, bringing community together for a powerful day of connection and celebration. The GATHAA One Mob Reconciliation Market brings First Nations mob and the wider community together at the Hope Dreaming Visitor Centre for a welcoming morning of yarning, learning and connection on Country. Enjoy First Nations-led stalls, live music, cultural dance, bushfood, workshops and family-friendly activities while supporting Indigenous businesses.
Old Ways New Marks exhibition

Old Ways, New Marks is a bold and vibrant exhibition celebrating First Nations emerging artists through contemporary screen-printed works, led by Jinibara artist Jennifer Kent and supported by the Sunshine Coast Council Arts and Heritage Levy. Showcased at Maroochydore Library Art Space, it shares powerful stories of culture, identity, resilience, and resistance, inviting audiences to connect with living culture and the strength of First Nations creativity. Bush Tucker Sensory Stations & Bushtucker Gardening

Explore native plants at the Library Bush Tucker Sensory Stations this National Reconciliation Week and discover traditional herbs and spices used by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples for thousands of years. Celebrate local plants, respect First Nations knowledge and walk together towards a shared future.
