Route 616 Late Night Service Trial is here to stay for another 12 months! Travel between Maroochydore, UniSC and Palmview after 10pm every Friday and Saturday night for just 50 cents.

We're excited to share that the Route 616 Maroochydore to Palmview Late Night Service Trial has been extended until 2 August 2027!
In partnership with The Department of Transport and Main Roads, Council is continuing the Late Night Route 616 Trial service, operating every Friday and Saturday night after 10pm between Maroochydore and Palmview.
The extended trial will continue to help workers and patrons travel safely, conveniently and affordably to and from the Ocean Street and Mooloolaba late night precincts.
Heading home after work, a night out, or venue hopping between Mooloolaba and Maroochydore just got easier. With 50 cent fares, there's never been a better time to leave the car at home.
Route information
The Route 616 Late Night Trial servicing Maroochydore, Mooloolaba, Buderim, Sippy Downs, UniSC and Palmview includes:
- Ten late night/ early morning trips after 10pm every Friday and Saturday night
- Additional late night stop at the new Maroochydore Road (Guzman y Gomez) location every Friday and Saturday night after 10pm.
- Additional two stops in Mooloolaba on Walan Street and River Esplanade for the late night service only.

To Palmview - Departs Maroochydore Rd, Maroochydore hourly from 10:40pm – 2:40am
To Maroochydore - Departs Palmview at 9:43pm and 10:43pm, then hourly from 11:28pm – 1:28am

Yes, the late night buses will stop at all designated bus stops on Route 616 when you signal to the bus driver that you wish to either board or alight from the bus.

Only late night trips after 10pm on routes 616 and 600 will stop at the Maroochydore Rd (Guzman y Gomez) bus stop on Friday and Saturday nights.
There are no changes to the stops for route 620. This service will continue to run from Maroochydore Station (Aerodrome Rd) to Noosa.

Right now, Zero Emission Buses (ZEBs) are not likely to run late at night because they need to charge during that time. But if the trial goes well, they may be used for night services in the future as the fleet expands.
