Employer Peer Network – supporting culturally inclusive workplaces

Meeting of businesses owners at the Employer Peer Network

The Employer Peer Network (EPN) is a local initiative that brings employers together to share ideas and practical strategies for hiring and keeping migrant and multicultural workers.

The EPN began after 10 local employers asked for ongoing support to prepare for a more diverse workforce. The network helps employers build inclusive, resilient workplaces for the future. It promotes ‘employer readiness’ by giving businesses the tools and support to welcome and keep a diverse workforce through practical advice and peer learning.

The first meeting was in July 2025, hosted by Country Chef. It featured insights from leading employers and legal experts on migrant employment. Founding employers include:

  • Country Chef
  • Kilcoy Global Foods
  • Arcare Aged Care
  • Kinetic
  • Whites IGG
  • Lutheran Services
  • Steps Group
  • Ascension Performance

Upcoming meetings

The network meets every three months, the next meeting is in October 2025.

Why multicultural workforce inclusion matters

Hiring a diverse workforce is not just the right thing to do—it’s a smart business move.

On the Sunshine Coast, 21% of residents were born overseas or have multicultural heritage. Employers who embrace diversity tap into a rich talent pool.

Inclusive workplaces often see:

  • Higher productivity, creativity and innovation.
  • Better problem-solving and wider market reach.
  • Stronger staff retention and engagement.
  • A broader range of skills and better employment outcomes.
  • Improved mental and physical health.
  • Positive impact on the local economy.

By focusing on inclusion and belonging, you can become an employer of choice—known for inclusive practices and strong teams.

Let’s work together to build inclusive, resilient workplaces on the Sunshine Coast.
