There are a range of options for travelling across the Sunshine Coast

Council Link is a council-funded transport service available to:

  • people aged 60 and over
  • people with a disability or mobility impairment (DSP concession card holders)
  • carers and minors accompanying people (carers card or companion card holders).

Council Link services run in designated areas across the region one day per week. A fare is only $2 per person (one-way trip). For more information go to the Council Link page.

Buses

Most buses on the Sunshine Coast allow easy access for the elderly and people with prams or mobility difficulties. For wheelchair accessible service enquiries contact Sunbus phone (07) 5450 7888.

Trains

If you require a portable ramp or assistance from guards when disembarking a train, please wait at the assisted boarding point near the guard’s cabin when the train stops.

Disability parking permits

The Department of Transport and Main Roads can issue a disability parking permit to people if their ability to walk is severely restricted.

RECHARGE SchemeTM

The RECHARGE SchemeTM  supports people who use electric mobility scooters or wheelchairs. The scheme includes locations to safely recharge scooters or wheelchair batteries free of charge. The Sunshine Coast has five locations.
