The Australian Bureau of Statistics conducts an Australian wide census every 5 years. The most recent census was undertaken in August 2021.

Census update 2021

Results of the 2021 census began being released on June 28, 2022. The intent of the census update 2021 infographic (PDF, 530KB) is to provide a quick reference to the key statistics and demographics of the Sunshine Coast, and ensure demographic information remains up to date, consistent and reliable.

The census update 2021 infographic includes 2021 census statistics on population, dwellings, age groups, household structures, incomes, housing costs, and tenure, and more.

Where relevant, the latest statistics are compared to 2011 data to provide an understanding of changes in the last 10 years.

If you would like any further information regarding demographics for the Sunshine Coast, please email demographics@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au.
