Annual Australasian Bat Night

The flagship event of the flying-fox calendar, Bat Night is our annual education day.

Join #frankietheflyingfox at Maleny Showgrounds and learn about all the amazing things she and our other Little Aussie BAT-tlers do to keep our environment healthy.

Bring a blanket, torch, and a picnic blanket to relax under the stars while watching the local flying-fox roost “fly-out” for the night.

This FREE family event packs in loads of batty fun:

  • LIVE native animals up close
  • Guided roost tours to the nearby Nationally Important Pecan Park roost
  • ‘Batpack’ bag printing and other art activities
  • Dedicated speakers program from bat experts
  • Educational and market stalls
  • Food stalls
  • Outdoor cinema under the stars

AND MUCH, MUCH MORE!

Want to see all the fun before you attend? Check out the highlights in our video.

BatPod - podcast

BatPod is a choose your own adventure series for ages 10–15 where you get to call the shots.

We live in one of the most beautiful parts of the planet and we get to share it with some amazing creatures.

Sometimes it can be hard living near them, take flying-foxes for example. These animals are vital to our environment but they can be noisy, smelly and messy neighbours.

You're invited to join Tyron, and our team at Sunshine Coast Council, to try and problem solve ways to live alongside these animals peacefully.
