Managing invasive plants
Find out what council is doing to protect against invasive plants and how you can protect your place.
Controlling invasive plants is challenging. They typically grow faster than native species and compete for space, nutrients, water and sunlight. They easily invade disturbed habitats and often produce large numbers of seeds—helping them to spread quickly.
Effective, long-term control of invasive plants is best achieved by combining several species-specific control methods. The effective management of invasive animals requires commitment from all stakeholders. Council is leading a collaborative and integrated approach in protecting our region from invasive species.
