Topics we cannot discuss
There are topics we cannot discuss and encourage you to seek guidance through other tools and services listed below.
- Compliance matters - Please make an enquiry through our online compliance enquiry form. Development Information Officers will not discuss past, current, or future compliance matters.
- Likelihood of approval - This is determined through a formal application and assessment process, please seek guidance through our written advice or pre-lodgement services
- Building approvals - You may need help from a Private Building Certifier, find out what needs building approval.
- Confirmation of accepted development or existing use rights - Seek written advice
- Confirmation of application type - Use our online AI development assistant tool or seek written advice

Is this a Council matter?
Some common construction and development related issues are handled by other regulatory bodies/agencies:
- Department of Transport and Main Roads - state government road maintenance and construction
- Unitywater - sewer and water supply maintenance and construction
- Queensland Government - state planning and development assessment
- For civil matters, the State Justice Department Dispute Resolution Centre can provide mediation without legal action.
