Paws, playgrounds and plans – thanks to you!
Here’s how you helped shape the future for a well-used neighbourhood park on the Sunshine Coast.

Sunshine Coast Council has finalised the landscape plan for Glenfields Neighbourhood Park in Mountain Creek, following valuable input from the local community.
The updated plan reflects what residents love about the park and outlines improvements to make it even better.
It will guide future upgrades while preserving the park’s character and the features people enjoy most.
Community feedback played a key role in shaping the plan.
During the second round of engagement, held from January 20 to February 14, 2025, locals were invited to review the draft plan and share their thoughts through a short survey on Have your Say Sunshine Coast.
With 77 per cent of respondents supporting the proposed improvements, Council has now locked in the final design.
Bringing the community together
Sunshine Coast Council Division 6 Councillor Christian Dickson said Glenfields Neighbourhood Park was a much-loved space that brought the community together.
“This park is a real asset to the Glenfields Estate and the wider Mountain Creek area,” Cr Dickson said.
“We know how much our community values outdoor spaces and this plan reflects your ideas and priorities.
“In 2024, we asked what you liked about the park and what could be improved.
“Based on that feedback, we drafted a plan that included a fenced off-leash dog area – something many of you supported.
“We checked back in earlier this year to make sure we were on the right track.
“More than 100 people responded and I want to thank everyone who took the time to have their say.
“Your feedback has helped shape a plan that reflects both current needs and future aspirations.
“This is a great example of how we’re working together to create vibrant, inclusive spaces for everyone.”

What you loved
Community feedback showed appreciation for the upgraded playground that caters to all age groups, the inclusion of a dedicated dog exercise area, the thoughtful and detailed nature of the draft plan and the overall vision for the park’s future.
Areas for further consideration
Some community members raised concerns about the location of the fenced dog area, drainage issues and the potential to include bike tracks or a skate bowl.
Others suggested enhancing the exercise equipment and improving lighting and security.
Council carefully considered all feedback received throughout the project to ensure the final landscape plan reflects community needs and aspirations.
A summary of findings from both Phase 1 and Phase 2 community engagement is available on Have your Say Sunshine Coast.
What’s next
Based on community feedback, the landscape plan is now complete and will guide future improvements to the park.
However, no elements – including the dog exercise area – are currently funded or scheduled for construction.
The plan will help Council seek funding opportunities in the future.
