Fallen trees on grass after a storm

Storm-impacted general waste disposal

Residents who were impacted during recent storms will be able to take their storm-impacted general waste to Sunshine Coast Council resource recovery centres for free until 5pm Sunday 30 November. This period may be extended if required.

Storm-impacted garden waste disposal

If Monday’s storm gave your garden a battering, you can dispose of your storm damaged green waste for free until 5pm Friday 5 December at Sunshine Coast Council resource recovery centres.

Green waste must be 'clean':

  1. No plastic bags.
  2. No plant pots - plastic or other.
  3. No timber including pallets or fencing. This can contain asbestos.
  4. No invasive plants (eg tubers, seeds). These must be disposed of to landfill.
  5. No gravel or dirt. Dirt is to be removed from rootballs prior to disposal of root systems.
  6. Root balls, palms and tree trunks over 30cm in diameter will be charged as general solid waste.

Please do not put waste from your property on to the footpath or verge.

We also understand that some people are unable to carry or transport waste from their homes and ask that they contact us by calling 5475 7272 or request a service online.

Please show patience as we work through the requests.

Some mowing and park maintenance may be delayed while we assist impacted areas.
