Join the celebrations at Biosphere Festival events

Discover your power to make our Biosphere a better place and immerse in uniquely Sunshine Coast experiences, from film screenings and workshops to a twilight market.

Biosphere Festival 2025 is now underway with events across the region from 29 October to 8 November.

Mayor Rosanna Natoli, who chairs the Sunshine Coast Biosphere Coordinating Committee, said some of the festival’s headline offerings, including the Dark Sky Experience and On Country cultural tours, had already sold out.

“We’ve seen incredible enthusiasm from the community for this appreciation of our night skies and First Nations knowledge,” Mayor Natoli said.

“It goes to show the passion of our community: how we live closely with nature, how we’re always eager to get together and celebrate.”

About the Sunshine Coast Biosphere

The Sunshine Coast Biosphere was designated in June 2022, internationally recognising our region as a member of the World Network of Biosphere Reserves by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation).

That includes everything from our natural areas and ecosystems to every person, group and business, all connected and depending on each other.

“Every time you choose locally made products and suppliers, reduce your household waste, support someone in your neighbourhood, or speak up for others and the environment, you’re helping bring about a better future in the Biosphere,” Mayor Natoli said.

“Every event in the Biosphere Festival showcases a way toward that future.”

A film screening to inspire hope for the future

Bring the kids (or your youthful enthusiasm) and explore the future with our young leaders, both global and local, as part of a film screening and panel talk.

Enjoy a special screening of Future Council (directed by Damon Gameau of That Sugar Film and 2040), in which eight children take global matters into their own hands, then hear the stories of young local leaders in sustainability as part of the panel discussion.

Explore local First Nations art and culture

Drop in to the GATHAA First Nations Twilight Market for a magical afternoon where First Nations musicians set the vibe, cultural performances bring stories to life, and workshops and activities invite all ages to connect with culture.

Give your old linen a new life

Donate your tired cotton and polyester linen at the Give a Sheet for the Planet event and BlockTexx will recycle the material at their Queensland facility, recovering resources that would otherwise go to landfill.
