Severe weather can happen at any time, and being prepared can make all the difference for our people, workplaces and services. That’s why Sunshine Coast Council is supporting Get Ready@Work 2026, a Queensland-wide initiative helping organisations take practical steps to prepare for severe weather and other emergency events.

Last year, more than 35 state and local government organisations took part in the campaign. This year, Get Ready@Work is encouraging workplaces to turn good intentions into action through a simple workplace preparedness checklist.

Running until 27 November, the campaign helps you identify actions that can strengthen your workplace readiness. Whether you’re just getting started or already have plans in place, the checklist can help you review, update and improve your preparations. From checking emergency contacts and communication processes to reviewing business continuity arrangements, every step contributes to a more resilient workplace.

Getting your business ready

Getting involved is easy. Open the checklist, choose one action, tick it off when complete and keep building on your progress throughout the campaign.

Small actions taken today can help reduce disruption and support a faster response and recovery when severe weather strikes.

For additional resources, communication materials and campaign information, visit the Get Ready@Work Internal Communications Toolkit 2026.

Together, we can build a safer, more prepared and more resilient Sunshine Coast workforce and community.
