Council provides eight waste management and resource recovery facilities on the Coast. These facilities do not have public weighbridges. There are recycling and second-hand markets at Buderim, Caloundra, Beerwah and Witta. See the rubbish tips locality map.

Visitors must wear closed in footwear at all facilities. This is a health and safety requirement. People wearing sandals or thongs will be refused entry. See the Waste facilities Conditions of Entry for more information.

The commercial credit account applications (DOCX, 357KB) - are for commercial/business use only. Accepted at all sites except Kenilworth and Yandina.

Note: Vehicle Loading Cranes (VLCs) will be accepted at our Waste Diversion | Disposal Facilities for waste and recycling disposal activities excluding asbestos at the landfill tip face. VLCs shall not be permitted to unload or decant using the vehicles crane under any circumstance. VLCs shall only be permitted to tip or hand unload only.

Clean soil (cover) disposal - load must contain 90% soil or similar spreadable clean fill material (no litter, large rocks, bricks or other contaminants).

Disposal of 100m³ or more requires prior approval. Please download, complete and return the clean fill assessment form and return via email to wastedisposal@sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au

Concrete and bricks for recycling

Clean hardened concrete and bricks – must contain less than 5% soil, grass or steel.

Engineered stone, sandstone, granite or concrete with contaminants are not accepted for recycling. These items are classed as construction and demolition waste.

From Monday 6 November 2023 concrete trucks, including pump out trucks, will no longer be allowed to wash out or dispose of liquid concrete slurry at our waste facilities. Only hardened concrete will be accepted.

Garden organics disposal – root balls, palms and tree trunks over 30cm in diameter will be charged as general solid waste.

Green waste must be 'clean', including:  

  • No plastic bags
  • No plant pots - plastic or other
  • No timber including pallets or fencing. This can contain asbestos. 
  • No invasive plants plants (eg tubers, seeds). These must be disposed of to landfill.
  • No gravel or dirt. Dirt is to be removed from rootballs prior to disposal of root systems.

This waste becomes mulch which is sold to general public and other companies.
