Dementia
Dementia Australia offer resources for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
Dental health
Adults and children can access free publicly funded dental care through Queensland Government if they meet certain eligibility criteria. If you do not meet the criteria you will need to pay to visit a private dentist.
Disability
The National Ethnic Disability Alliance provides advocacy for migrants and their carers/families with disability in Australia.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) provides support to eligible people with people with disability, their families and carers. There are a number of local service providers who can work with you to develop a support plan to suit your unique needs.
AMPARO Advocacy has produced NDIS factsheets and videos in 39 different languages.
Drug and alcohol treatment
Public and private alcohol and drug services offer a range of treatment, information, education and community-based supports for Australians affected by alcohol and drug use.
Families
Relationships Australia is a leading provider of relationship support services for individuals, families and communities. They aim to support all people in Australia to achieve positive and respectful relationships.
Gambling helpline
The legal minimum age to gamble in Australia is 18. Gambling Help is a free and confidential counselling and support service which operates during business hours across Queensland.
Immunisations
The best person to talk to about immunisation or vaccination is your doctor. You can also find useful information on the Queensland Government website.
Mental health
Changing countries is difficult. You may be feeling depressed or anxious. Ask your doctor about getting a mental health plan which gives you six free sessions with a psychologist. Medicare covers most of the cost however you may have to pay the gap in some instances.

Domestic and family violence
Violence can be physical, sexual, verbal, emotional, financial or social. It is illegal in Australia for a person to be violent to their partner, parent, carer, or to a child.

Young people
Headspace provides counselling, information and referral for young people aged 12 to 24 years, phone 5409 4900.
Aged care
For most people, growing older means there are times you find it difficult to manage day-to-day living activities. You may need help, or you may be caring for a family member or a friend who needs help.
There are different types of aged care services to support you, whatever your needs.
