First Nations people have fought for over 175 years for self-determination, representation and equality. Today community moves forward sensitive to the needs and trauma experienced by generations.
Our aspirations are bound to the wellbeing of individuals, families, community and Country.
This forum brings First Nations people together, provides an update of where things are at, explores best practice, case studies and gives community the tools to grow using a strengths-based approach.
Our wellbeing is connected to our ability to be self-determining and how we are represented. The wellbeing of our future lies in our cultural sovereignty.
The First Nations Self-Determination, Representation & Wellbeing Forum is about First Nations community voices leading community engagement, and fostering intrinsic and benevolent relationships, as a foundation to growing strong, sustainable and empowering outcomes.
First Nations Self-Determination, Representation & Wellbeing Forum Objectives
- Education, Leadership, Empowerment and Networking
- To establish segmented community delegations that benefit from greater engagement and collaboration between forums
- To share knowledge, experiences and opportunities, and have conversations around current issues experienced by First Nations
- To empower communities, nurture innovation and facilitate authentic connections between people and place
- To embed the forum as a platform to come together, nurture relationships and create action
- By the third forum, community is reporting and presenting on their own agenda, facilitated in-line with regional strategies.
