Thursday 24 October 2024 - early November 2024.

Purpose

Counting vehicles, bicycles and pedestrians to understand human movement along Blackall St. 

Data produced will be used to support data from existing sensors installed as part of a pilot program in Woombye, to assist with future planning and improved service delivery to the community.

Purpose:

Counting vehicle, bicycle and pedestrians to understand how the area is being used. 

Data produced can help characterise human mobility patterns on roads and footpaths at busy locations. This can help inform infrastructure design and urban planning, with patterns and quantities observed providing opportunity for improved service delivery.


Buderim Village Park

Purpose

To understand the use of park facilities, including movement and numbers of people and vehicles visiting Buderim Village Park.

Data produced by the trailer will be used to:

  • Determine the numbers of visitors and levels of park, playground, and car park use.
  • Understand park visitation patterns and duration of use.
  • Inform future management and service delivery planning.

Purpose

To ensure the object detection technology correctly counts the number and type of people and vehicles eg:

  • cars, trucks, buses, and motorbikes 
  • pedestrians, scooters and cyclists.

These sensors do not collect any personally identifiable information, eg no face or number plate recognition.

Maroochy Wetlands Sanctuary

Purpose

To determine quality of our communications network by testing signal improvement with an additional Internet of Things (IoT) gateway. 

Results helped to inform decision making regarding investment into devices and sensors for the Wetlands Sanctuary.

Purpose

Ambient temperature sensors and a weather station collected environmental data such as air quality, wind speed, temperature and humidity.

This information was collected as part of the ‘How cool are our green urban forests?’ research project (in partnership with UniSC), to measure urban heat impacts on our communities (eg warmer temperatures), and address climate change concerns. 

​​​​​​The Wurtulla deployment is part of a long-term environmental data collection project to provide evidence-based decision making to help adapt to the impacts of the urban heat island (UHI) effect, improve streetscape designs that cool down our surroundings, and improve our quality of life.
