Sign up for free English classes

Some libraries, community centres and churches run free English classes. Please see the listings in the Handbook and Directory[1983KB].

Read and Write for Life

Read and Write for Life provides confidential help with general literacy. This includes reading, writing, speaking, listening, maths and basic computer skills. Sessions are held at various Sunshine Coast Libraries.

An interview with Literacy Services is required before attending a session. To organise an interview or for more information phone 5499 5414.

Conversation Circles

Conversation circles are relaxed gatherings of people from non-English speaking backgrounds. 

The aim is to improve your English conversation skills by talking in a friendly setting to help each other develop understanding and skills. 

Bookings are not required.

  • Wednesdays 12.30pm-2.30pm at Maroochydore Library
  • Tuesdays 12.30pm-2.30pm held online

TAFE  English Language and Literacy Services (TELLS)

TELLS provides language, literacy, and numeracy training to job seekers and migrants through the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) and the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE) program. 

AMEP offers free English language classes to help you develop your English language skills and settle confidently into your new life in Australia. 

SEE provides free language, literacy and numeracy training to equip eligible job seekers with the knowledge and skills required to succeed in further studies or in the workforce.
